azores

I set out on a journey to explore the Azores, a group of nine volcanic islands in the Atlantic Ocean. First I flew to the island of Sao Miguel, known for its stunning lakes and hot springs, and was immediately taken by its beauty. I then continued to Flores, where I was amazed by the breathtaking waterfalls and rugged cliffs. I also visited the smallest of the Azores, Corvo, which made for an arduous journey across the wild Atlantic. Then, I made my way to Pico, with its towering volcano. Rumor has it there’s even more different wines to try on the island than there are whale species in the deeps below surrounding it. Finally, I reached Faial, renowned for its picturesque harbor and gorgeous blue and green hydrangeas. Everywhere I went, I was enchanted by the warm hospitality of the local people and the breathtaking beauty of the islands. My Azorean memories are filled with the radiant shades of green pasture and subtle hints of hydrangeas — and pungent volcanic sulfur fumes of course.
